At Fasmac, we offer "Analysis of Live Microbial Community Structure." The "Community Structure Analysis using the Selective Membrane Permeable Dye EMA" utilizes the fact that EMA modifies DNA derived from dead bacteria, rendering the modified DNA unable to be amplified by PCR, allowing for the selective detection of DNA from live bacteria.
